The newest (and tiniest) residents of Libby are learning about Graduation Matters Montana thanks to a local effort to make sure all students graduate prepared to take on their next challenge.

Graduation Matters Libby, one of 53 Graduation Matters communities in Montana delivers newborn baskets to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center that include a “Future Logger” onesie and a magnet outlining important steps that will help children succeed.

Graduation Matters Libby has also developed a mentoring program where teen students spend time reading with elementary kids.

Many Graduation Matters Montana communities start the conversation about the importance of setting goals and graduation long before students reach high school. Billings elementary-aged students stand in front of their peers and teachers and pledge to graduate. In Stevensville, students in every grade know what year they’re expected to earn their diplomas.

Graduation Matters Montana has always been about community-driven collaboration in an effort to make sure more of our students are ready for their next steps in life. Graduation Matters Libby shows it’s never too early to start.
